Who we are

CURRENTLY IN PRE-PRODUCTION

LAUNCH IN FALL 2025

Viking Farewell creates unique, 2 foot long, burnable, shippable Viking ships out of natural materials for celebrating heroes who have passed on in a burning ritual on land or water. The founder, Lionel, is an experienced engineer, ship builder and modern viking. Lionel was born in France, but raised in the US by his adopted family, Swedish-speaking Finns. Learning their Scandinavian dialect growing up, and visiting Viking ship museums in Iceland and Denmark kindled a curiosity that grew into a flame. His love for working with nature’s raw materials, and a talent for curating experiences both combined with a deep respect for the power of the stories that we live. These defining elements emerged into his vision for Viking Farewell in mid 2025. After years of felling trees and hand crafting ships, he decided to bring the magic of dragon longships and Viking funerals to people for whom a traditional funeral ceremony wasn't in the cards.

If you've ever wanted to burn a ship in honor of your Viking warrior, this is your chance. We hope this new take on an old grief ritual will live on in your hearts long after the ship has made it's voyage to Valhalla.
